The Nave concept all-round camera
The Nave from NEC is a conceptual take on a 360-degree Visual Communication Device that will definitely render the video phone obsolete should it ever go into mass production. Everyday visual communications from a distance are limited to the types of display devices and terminals used, but the Nave changes all that by providing a feed of the surrounding environment for the perfect group-to-group communication via a round display and a central super-wide angle camera. The Nave is still a concept design by NEC, and you will most probably never see it make an appearance as a commercial unit, but it is still great to see companies taking the initiative to think out of the box in order to advance the electronics industry on the whole.
