Polaroid enters PMP market

It might come as a surprise to most people when they see the Polaroid brand name slapped on a portable media player, but that is inevitable ever since the original company went bust and is now riding on its name to move products. The trio of portable media players include the MPA-20011, MPA-28216, and MPA-43315, where all but the MPA-20011 are WiFi-enabled. The MPA-20011 will be available in March for approximately $100 and supports MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG 4, and WMV formats. You can also add to the 1GB memory by slotting in additional microSD cards. For more details on the MPA-28216 and MPA-43315, kindly head on after the jump.

The MPA-28216 is definitely more powerful than the entry level MPA-20011, boasting a 30GB hard drive as well as a 2.8" LCD display. In addition to the MPA-20011's file format support, the MPA-28216 also offers AVI and DRM11-protected compatibility. With WiFi connectivity, you can hook up the MPA-28216 to the Polaroid DEC1000 media center. There will be two models available - with WiFi ($280) and without ($250).

The most high-end of the trio is the MPA-43315 that shares every the MPA-28216 has with the exception of a large 4.3" LCD touchscreen display and a 40GB hard drive. As for pricing, the MPA-43315 also comes in non-WiFi ($250) and WiFi-enabled ($330) versions. Shipping for both the MPA-28216 and MPA-43315 will begin this fall.

I purchased this player as soon as it was out on the market, it worked very well until the memory was full. I purchased the scandisk memory card and it worked great until i came close to filling it. After about 60 songs on the entire player both internal and external storage i added some photos. They looked amazing on the screen but the player became slow and would not turn on unless i deleted more music and photos. It is a nice device but once close to media capacity it no longer turns on or works properly.

I recieved this as a present. It was very pretty but didn't work very well. The softwear that came with it wasn't very userfriendly. I work in IT so it's not like I'm one of those people who doesn't know what a spacebar is. What did download on it played beautifully and the screen was nice and big but this product just didn't seem to match up with what was available on the market... Cheers Lily
