Thought-controlled wheelchair
Jan 29, 07 09:50 AM PDT

A thought-controlled robotic wheelchair has always been the stuff dreams are made of, and those dreams might be realized sooner than later thanks to the efforts of researchers at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. This wheelchair will utilize a couple of 800MHz Intel processors to process and send your thoughts to the wheel, making it seem as if you had telekinetic powers. The background work is actually done by a new brain-computer interface (BCI) which converts thoughts into commands that are wheelchair-friendly. A working prototype is expected to roll out (no pun intended) sometime next year or in 2009, with real world tests scheduled to be held in 2010. Finally, we will soon catch up with Professor X in terms of a thought-controlled wheelchair.
