CES Unveiled – It’s time to have fun instead of spending hours vacuuming the floor! This gadget is equipped with an Artificial Intelligence system that reads the barcodes embedded in the hardwood floors to navigate the house efficiently. The device won the CES 2007 Design and Engineering Showcase Honors Award. The Korean manufacturer Microrobot is looking for a distributor in the US able to manage the integration of the barcodes on the hardwood floors.

To Erco: In Korea, a number of new house projects come with the special flooring pre-installed, which is probably the most practical way of doing it, if it's not too expensive.
A GPS would most likely not work inside parts of the house - if at all.

Good luck expecting a manufacturer to make special flooring for a robot. Good luck finding buyers for a robot that requires a special floor to be installed. Any other means of navigation, even GPS or Northstar would be much cheaper than a new floor.
What else you got?

I really need one of these, but my Rotties would have entirely too much fun with it!
