Bionic eyes get HD treatment
Published on 02/15/2007

Those who have lost their sight now have hope that a new electronic implant will be able to restore visual capabilities in blind people. This previous version of this device features a mere 16 pixels to work with, but they are enough to help patients' brains distinguish the difference between a cup, a plate, and a knife. The new version comes with an improved resolution of a whooping 60 pixels, where the difference is as stark as a regular 480i TV and a full HD TV. The research team hopes to make this technology available to the masses within the next couple of years at the price of $30,000.
