Canon PowerShot TX1 features HD video

HD was again the message at CES 2007 and it’s not surprising that new video devices feature at least a 720p resolution. The PowerShot TX1 is capable of capturing videos at 1280x720, 30 frames per second. This is nice for a camera this size. The other neat thing is that it has an optical stabilizer (anti-shake), unlike competing models that usually feature an electronic stabilizer (the electronic one isn’t as nice). Finally, it records the video on SD cards – which is cool, but could create serious capacity issues, depending on usage. I’m not sure what the video encoding is, but I suspect that it’s a derivative of MPEG4.
