Horntones bring MP3s to car horns

Published on 02/13/2007

Let's see, we already have MP3 playback functionality in cellphones and even digital cameras, so what would be the next frontier for this form of digital entertainment? Why, the car horn, of course. Horntones from California will be selling the FX-550 from mid 2007 onwards at a recommended retail price of $149.99. Each Horntones unit can store a maximum of eight different sounds, ranging from nature to voices and music. You can also play your favorite MP3 tunes that are stored on any USB flash drive as long as it remains plugged into the dash unit. Of course, an amplifier is required to pump out songs at a decent level via your regular horn speaker. Do our readers think that this invention will be a road hazard?
