New business toy from Nokia
Posted on Feb 12, 07 08:46 AM PDT

The Nokia Communicator line has always been famous for not only its size, but productivity as well. Nokia decided to stick with the tried-and-tested design of the original Communicator when it released the Nokia E90. Offers various enhancements over the previous Communicator such as WLAN and HSDPA connectivity, the E90 is bound to be one of the more highly sought after business cellphones. Features include an S60 browser and a display which is capable of displaying the entire width of a web page at once, integrated GPS, an FM radio, music and video playback, a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, and a regular VGA camera for video calls. The E90 is widely tipped to be released sometime in Q2 2007 for approximately $750 to $800.

this phone had so much more potential, what a sad day...all they needed to do was transplant the s80 software from the 9300i to e90- so easy, yet they got it wrong. So so sad.

My bad, Nokia E90 has the illuminated keyboard, but it's too weak, even on max. brightness level...

Nokia E90 CONS (first couple of days, more to discover...):
- No illuminated keyboard
- Very slow camera, by the time it gets to focus your baby is half a mile away
- Voice recorder, if used while talking, makes such a loud beep that everybody thinks you just hang up on him or her. “Hello, are you there? What was that?”
- You cannot transfer the data from your old handset, even if it's a S60 3rd edition device, Nokia E61 in my case. The feature worked flawless between my E61 and the 6230, and we are talking about two different software platforms, S40 to S60!
- Web browsing on the small screen will not let you see the entire page, regardless the zoom or the font settings, so you cannot click on the side buttons of the web page, www.flightview.com in my case. Nokia E61 browser is so much better!...
- The number of characters that you can use for a calendar entry is now limited. Why Nokia??? Also, compare with the Nokia 6230, where you can send the note via SMS, as text message, not V-entry, with the E90, which was supposed to be the top notch of all communicators, nobody receives it, even if they are subscribers in the same network, T-Mobile USA in my case
- Battery life is worst than ever, and I am not using the wi-fi or bluetooth connection at all!...

Don't rush on spending more than a 1000$ for the Nokia E90, it's not worth it, Nokia could have done a much better job, I just got one and I am not a happy cow, believe me! I can go even further and conclude that it is quite a disappointment! Nokia has let us down again, I don't know how much love do I have left for this brand, I've spent lots of money trying to replace my Nokia 6230, not the 6230i(where I was missing just the capability to retrieve / send e-mails due to the faulty settings on Nokia settings website / wizard)) with an upgraded phone: Nokia 9500, Nokia 9300, Nokia 6233, Nokia E61 and now the long waited E90 (1,272$ the first day I was able to get it)!...

I think the E90 may even challenge Nokia's N95, I just dont know if I cant wait any longer for it. I have been following nokia-e90.com , who says the communicator will retail for over a $1000. Worth every penny!
