Roadbox records moments before crash

Published on 02/ 1/2007

Airplanes and even public buses have black boxes to record what exactly was going on before a tragedy ensued, and it looks as though that technology will finally be arriving for cars. Manufacturer Sindan Electrical Trading claimed that this new system, the Roadbox, will come with a video capturing device and data analysis software. Data will only be recorded by the video capturing device in the event of a collision, activating only upon impact or sudden braking. A USB cable is then used to transfer data to a computer where it can be analyzed. I sure hope that the USB port is properly protected as any crash could potentially render the port useless, what more if the car catches fire. The Roadbox will be available sometime in mid-March for approximately $175 after conversion.
