Tascam MP-GT1 for guitar heroes
The Tascam MP-GT1 holds the honor of being the first MP3 player that was designed specifically for musicians. It is, in essence, a mobile guitar trainer that comes with enough memory to hold up to 240 songs. You can learn new riffs by slowing guitar parts down, looping, and even eliminate certain parts. Such MP3 playback is achieved via Variable Speed Audition, slowing down the speed without changing the pitch. You can also pitch up or down the current song to match your guitar's tuning. The MP-GT1 comes with an integrated tuner and metronome, a graphical LCD display, and a data wheel for navigation purposes. The Tascam MP-GT1 will be available in Japan at the end of this month onwards at an undisclosed price.

100% mobile. This little unit replaces all other devices. I also bought a leather clip on case from ValetStand. Now I just clip it on my strap and can walk arond and jam.

Mine is dead a week after new. It won't take a hard reset, or accept any firmware update. Simply dead. Next step is to see if anyone from Tascam will listen.

I've had this Tascam for two months now, and it works perfectly. I'm sorry one of you got a lemon. I hope Tascam replaces it for you. I personally love this thing, and so does my wife - she doesn't have to listen to me playing at 4:00AM anymore :-)

Howdy--Stay away from this product unless you need a $200 paper weight. I've tried updating the firmware, several different mp3 conversion programs and hours on the phone and email with Tascam. Nothing will play on it. I got a lemon. Wait a year or so for Tascam to work the kinks out of the machine before buying.

I was surprised to find that this doesnt come with a guitar. What a ripoff! I would return it, but I already took a dump in the box.

If this thing also records tracks that are coming from the guitar player (with or without the added music it was accompanying), this could become a little extension of the recording studio. Anyway, it sounds very cool. I play acoustic, but it makes me want to go out and buy an electric, just to play around.

use the open source firmeware rockbox (www.rockbox.org). it's available for ipod, irivers and some others. you don't have to buy a special player just for practising.
