Teraflop paves way for future chips
Intel has released a Teraflop chip which comes with a whooping 80 processing cores that is capable of pumping out over a trillion calculations per second. Power mongers will be disappointed when they find out that this chip will not be available for a commercial release, but they can take heart that it will provide a breakthrough for more powerful processors. Measuring the size of a fingernail, the Teraflop chip is truly an engineering wonder. With all the cores floating around, it would be interesting to see how programmers work around with 80 cores considering where as things are at the moment - no one has actually fully harnessed the power of dual core processors for everyday, commercial applications to date.
