US broadband worse than in Japan, Korea and... God no... France!
Feb 27, 07 11:50 AM PDT

Our colleague from Uberpulse was yesterday at the Tech Policy Summit in the beautiful Dolce Hayes Mansion in San Jose. The Summit purpose is to offer an independent forum to discuss policies issues in technology. Walt Mossberg from the Wall Street journal told James Cicconni, AT&T's Sr. EVP of External and legislative affairs, that "Countries like Japan, Korea, Scandinavia and God, yes God, France have better broadband than in the US [...] It's pathetic compared to overseas".

Korean broadband is amazingly fast. Yes, they have a concentrated population, however, their government also makes it a key issue to roll-out the lastest technology to compete in a global technology-based marketplace.
Comments about France seem a little immature though. There is no place in professional journalism for pettiness.

I'm so glad nobody mentioned Canada, where we have probably even worse service than the States.
You think France gets a bad wrap, nobody even thinks of us, lol.

By the way let me congratulate you about your obvious geographic knowledge, coming from an American, that's surprinsing and it's even brave to let me know how should I consider world dimension (considering this video: youtube?v=RAP-G7kepmg you should teach some to your compratiots...)
I would love to see how your ingenuity and creativity could help environment and ecology conditions. That would be wihtout any doubts, real demonstrations of your talent (but does "kyoto protocol" mean anything to you ?)
At least, in the name of all obese and sick people on earth (which hopefully are 90% based in the US) I would like to thank America for junk food invention. This is certainly the most visible (among so many others!) part what you named CREATIVITY... Good luck !

Well, there are some kind of ingenuity I wouldn't be proud of, but anyway, that's not the topic as you mentionned.
So, if it's that easier for a small country like France to expand network, then why beeing so amazed and sarcastic about our rank ?
This is typical image of america: you always want to be the first in everything. But this is just not possible in all topics, especially nowadays, not anymore !

Most of your engineering is done my the US. The US sends its consumer technology to Europe and Asia long before it brings it to US markets. Mainly because of the cost of market penetration. To release new methods of communication and technology is far greater here than in Europe or Asia. I would rather fail in the minor leagues then spend a fortune to test and lose in the major leagues. I work for the Number 2 technology firm in the world, and yes I am an engineer. I see what comes direct from Asia and Europe. Though you have talented people, nothing compares to American creativity and ingenuity.

Remember something France to update the infrastructure and supporting communication equipment in American costs more then 200 times what you have to spend to do the same in your country. I wish the US only have to update the land mass of Wisconsin. I spend a lot of time in Europe and most Europeans think the US is the same size as their country. Well, since the US is so bad at geography let me give you Europeans some education. Your country is the size of one of our states. Your population density is far greater than ours. So it is much easier for your country to update it's utilities. It has nothing to do with Iraq. It has to do with economies of scale. Try to have a bigger view of the world instead of a clouded self centered view that you currently hold.

If your so great country would have been more focused on technology instead of spending billions $$$ to kill irakian innocent citizens, then you wouldn't have to claim GOD about this situation.
Next time you American people vote: use your brain !

Why being so mean with France? Are french some kind of third world country to deserve that treatment...?
You know in France we have electricity and even toilets at home (we don't need to go in garden anymore...since 1930)
