Archos 704 WiFi

Archos shows its serious intent for the portable media player market by releasing the Archos 704 WiFi PMP that comes with a generous 7" touchscreen display (800 x 480 resolution) and a full range of wireless capability. Not only do you get comprehensive video and audio support, the 704 WiFi also enables you to surf the Internet and send email. The 100GB hard drive is large enough to store approximately 70 DVD-quality movies, which is a whole bunch. The Archos 704 WiFi is now available for pre-order for $549.99, appearing in retail shelves later this month. I personally think 7" is way too large to tote around wherever you go, making it more suitable for use in a car or snuggling up with your loved one at night to share a short comedy clip or two. Where do we draw the line when it comes to screen size for PMPs?

Why should we draw the line? The obvious answer is the market will decide. Nobody is twisting anyone's arm to buy a 7" display PMP. Isn't that obvious?
