Asus has launched a couple of products that will definitely hurt Creative with the Xonar D2X and Xonar D2 sound boards that have Creative's X-Fi in its sights. The Xonar D2X requires a PCIe x1 connector to run, delivering 118dB Sound-to-Noise-Ratio during playback and 115dB SNR during recording. This sound card boasts Dolby Digital, Dolby Live, DTS Connect and DTS 5.1 standards certification, enough to satiate even the most serious audiophile. The presence of a secondary music processor enables you to "rip" music into other formats via Analogue Loopback Transformation, giving it an edge over its rivals. Both the Xonar D2X and D2 will be available in the near future at a yet undisclosed price.
