D.I.Y. Lego drone

The Long Tail has officially coined the phrase "Lego Autopilot" after combining a gyro sensor with some Lego Mindstorms NXT. The autopilot will be able to keep the plane flying level whenever engaged thanks to the rudder. The servo arm that controls the rudder will go under manual radio control when autopilot is disengaged as you attempt to make a safe landing. This is a pretty interesting project, and if you're an enthusiast of similar pursuits, the entire home-built UAV solution will cost less than $1,000.
