Exploding batteries resurface
Posted on Mar 1, 07 05:59 PM PDT

You would think that 2007 would be peaceful on the exploding battery front after last year's farce from Sony, but apparently the curse is not quite finished yet with notebook users. Thankfully, it requires quite a forceful impact to cause a battery to explode, but the result is no laughing matter. Sanyo has recalled over 200,000 notebook batteries in the following Thinkpad models - the R60 and R60e, the T60 and T60p, and the entire Z series, while another 100,000 notebook batteries affected by this recall includes those purchased as accessories between November 2006 and last month. For the official recall statement, head on here.
