Philips bail out of plasma market
Mar 14, 07 07:05 PM PDT

Philips has announced that the company will solely focus on LCD TVs in the future, phasing out plasmas in stages until then. Those looking for Philips PDPs in China this year will be out of luck as the company will shut down sales in that country, although North America and Australia will still receive Philips PDPs. This could be due to the fact that Philips does not have any PDP plants to support its own-brand PDP TV business, unlike their 32.9% stake in LG.Philips LCD. In addition, the LCD TV market has seen strong growth worldwide to help justify this move. This debate is really getting really old though, but what are your thoughts - plasma or TV?
