The all black Xbox 360 Elite

The all black Xbox 360 Elite
Looks like rumor of the Black Xbox 360 is emerging as a fact really soon, and this improved console will be known as the Xbox 360 Elite. The Elite edition will be available in limited quantities, and everything will come in nothing else but black - from the case to the controller and headset. Each Xbox 360 Elite also ships with a 120GB hard drive and an HDMI connector. When the black Elite's limited run is over, Microsoft will phase out the current Premium range with white versions of the Elite, carrying the same 120GB hard drive and HDMI connector inside each $479 package. Why can't Microsoft just throw in the HD DVD drive into the bundle to go toe-to-toe with Sony's latest console?

I don't even care about HD-DVD, I have a PS3 60GB and Bluray. I just care about 360 exclusives. Halo, Gears, Perfect Dark, etc.

So that justify me go me going and spend another $479 so I can brag!!! or I should shell out $180 dollars for the proprietary 120 gig hardrive...Are you serious???? It does benefits newbies but it sure as hell dont benefit the 10 million installed fan base. Extending the 1 year warranty that benifits everyone. Hey if you dont care, good on you, but I had I know about the changes made i would have waited and get the better package then I would have benefit cause i would have been a newbie this is catering to according to you. I dont play pc game cause i like playing games on my couch and on a big tv not at a desk. Plus i dont have the time to do all that upgrading...not with my lifestyle...so thats a different market. Hence me worrying about my console being upgrade 18 months in its life cycle. Only thing difference between the slim and the ps2 was the size and the cd rom drive...all cable work the same. With the 360 i would choose HDMI over component, but since its not an option for me unless i come up with the extra cash....I have thought before i posted and i thinking again....And I bought quality cables for my xbox also so I dont care what it comes with, its nothing compared to monster....believe that. Had I had a choice from the start i wouldnt have bother me as much.....but being pissed off is my choice to make and right now MS got me disappointed.....search a little bit more you will see more people is also in line with my thoughts. Good job trying to back them up though

"as an xbox owner i am upset cause if they did their research and include these upgrades from the start their wouldnt be no need to spend extra money, that almost a whole 500 dollars more including the 400 already spent on the premium.....can we be so blind to follow MS....then I still need a hd-dvd.....what happen when that gets maintstream???"

well you didnt pay attention up there did you?

YOU need to remember that the Elite is just a limited edition,... just a few hundred thousand units. Sold for the people that want it.
Its kinda like the Halo edition xbox 1. If they were shoving it down your throat to buy it then they wouldn't release the upgrades for the premium owners. ---(If anything, you should be throwing out your pc right? you have to spend hundreds of $ to upgrade it over and over cause they didnt get it right the first time)---they figure it will catch they eyes of new consumers, and if an existing owner buys one, they will sell the older version to a non-owner for a cheaper price. Hence, more people have the console.. Since nobody make $ of the consoles anyways, It just makes more people that will buy games and accessories. Its a win win situation... microsoft gets more owners, someone gets an xbox premium for a bargain, and you get a 360 you can brag about having because most people don't have one.

When Sony released the Slim,... they didnt offer any way to upgrade your PS2 to a Slim did they? You either had it or didn't. They released the Slim as a perminant change where Microsoft is just releasing a special edition.

You can go and buy the 120GB HDD for your existing system. Im sure they aren't that ignorant to not make the hdmi cables compatible for the first round of 360's. when they first released the 360 they didnt know they were going to be the hub for IPTV, so they didnt think they were going to need a bigger HDD.

Walmart will be selling the HD-DVD players for only $130.00 shortly. plus the 400 console = $530

the 20gb PS3 is $500 +$60 for Hi def cables.

It all rounds out to be the same.

The only difference is that Sony is losing all their exclusive titles. 360 is supposed to get devil may cry, GTA4, Metal gear, Guitar hero2 (with exclusive content), along with several others. (the games that kept the PS2 afloat)

not to mention the exclusives 360 already has, Gears of war and Halo 3 alone are killer. Resistance may be a great game, but has nothing on Gears of War and probably not on halo 3 either.

they dont have pc conectivity, pc playability, or IPTV.

Dont make a fruit salad comment..... Apples to apples man!

Think before you post!

P.S. i belive sony has the history of burnt up dying consoles. As a matter of fact.. my roomate who works at GameStop (who is a PS fanboy) even says he cant believe how many PS3's were returned for smoking, dying, ect.

Na...to methats just an attempt make more money or try to outdo ps3, for that same 500 dollars i could buy a ps3 a complete solution and upgrade the harddrive and spend less.....hdmi cable in the box or not....im still gonna upgrade to monster for optimal quality, no in box brand, sony or microsoft, hdmi cable is gonna be better CMON people, im tired of being screwed by MS: burnt up consoles, small hd not even easily upgradable, now hdmi in a whole new damn skew only 1 year and some, and only maybe a handful of great titles 1 year out.....at least when ps2 went slim they had at least 3 years or so under their belt.......MS can go to hell for all i care

"will the xbo 360 elite really be limted
because i wont one but i probally wont get one
right away "

rumor has it that the black elite is limeted edition (few hundred thousnd units like the halo editon) but........

they are suppose to release a white version that will become the new premium editon... so basically it just wont be black.

The new premium bundle will be the same as the original just with a bigger HDD, HDMI cables, and a modified motherboard to make the system more cost effective.

as far as the core and the 20gb HDD,... not sure but i would assume they would just do away with the core completely.

"The elite is nice and all but you don't
need a 120gig harddrive unless you really go
alot on live and download stuff and if you
want to put demos music and videos on yur
360"

The reason they are expanding the HDD space is for a few reasons that I've heard of.(I'm not saying that these are 100% accurate)

1st- Supposedly they are going to add Xbox 1 titles to the arcade. (which I am sure will take up a bit of space)

2nd- IPTV is supposed to have DVR qualities. If they use the 360 for the IPTV centerpiece then that may include using the 360s HDD to record the TV shows.

3rd- I already only have 6 GiB left on my HDD, so an upgrade would good for me.

"$475 System, $200 HDDVD = $675 US...

I can pick up up a 60GB PS3 for $650
Canadian... Hrm, PS3 CHEAPER then XBox, MS
Can't allow that... Especially not after the
slew of price bashing ads over in the UK..."

Try to add the figures again...

$475 System, $200 HDDVD = $675 US
VS.
60GB PS3 for $650 Canadian + at least $50 hi def cables = $700 for a system with half the hdd space, a rediculous number of "7" controllers (really how do you splitscreen 7?), and that is losing a # of its exclusive titles.

And secondly, you are comparing canadian PS3 to an american bought 360... whats the candian 360 price?

Oh come on, no one has figured why they haven't added the HDDVD drive? Aside from Microsoft refusing to take a FIRM stand in the format war?

about time came with a HDMI cable, to bad PS3 does not come with any HD cables, so on top of the 600 you have to spend another 60-100 on a good HDMI cable.

still no wifi, no hd player, for only 20 bucks less um no ps3 is the complete package, I feel sorry for xbox early adopters though, missing out on the tech that MS said was not important...oh my bad they will probably buy a new one..... so old xbox premium $400 + having to upgrade to a new box $475+ to watch hd movies $200 = 1075 man sounds like rape to me

Its good that MS are catering to the needs of their customers like this. This stuff isn't my cup of tea though, I bought the 360 to play games, for me the killer 360 package would include a wireless networking adapter and a free subscription to xboxlive gold - just being cheeky, but they could throw in a years broadband connection too if they really want my money.
