3MP sensor for cellphones

Micron Technology has recently introduced the 0.25" 3 megapixel camera sensor for cellphone, along with anti-shake feature built right inside it that offers cellphone shutterbugs capture blur-free images. This new development sees cellphone cameras coming to age, as the megapixel race is pretty much redundant at this point of time. It makes perfect sense since users want quality photos after dropping some serious coin on expensive camera cellphones. Of course, cellphones won't be the only beneficiary of this sensor since other devices used in consumer, medical, automotive, commercial, industrial and high-speed markets can benefit from it. Mass production is expected to begin in Q4 2007, so keep a keen eye on products that will be coming out next year which feature better integrated cameras.
