I would not pay 200 bucks for this thing. I found it at Circuit City on clearance for 48 bucks. So far, with toying around with it for about an hour...that's actually a good price. This is NOT a serious camera...the DV footage looks bad, the still pics are pretty bad (better than those 20-dollar keychain cameras, not as good as even an old Kodak CX6200 2.0MP). It's hard to focus, white-balance, not great in low light, etc. But for 50 bucks, it's a neat toy. The gaming system, MP3 player and voice recorder (which seems to render better audio than an Olympus VN-480PC) make it quite a versatile multi-media device. It seems to record DV in xvid, so most video editors will probably have a hard time editing (Pinnacle 9 refused to accept a file) unless you have a video capture card and get the footage on your computer via the included AV cables. Make sure you buy a SD card, though. It only has 13mb (or so it says) free internal memory, I took about 6 pics and ran out of room.
This turned out longer than I expected. Long story short: if you pay more than 99 bucks for this, you're getting ripped off. Might as well spend a little extra to get an actual DV camera (tape or HDD) or digital still camera, because they will render MUCH better videos and pics than this thing.

The dxg 589v camera is a piece of crap. The video and picture quality is terrible. Not worth the money or the time.

Tried the 589V and it was a greal all in one for the price...Would highly recommend, especially if you have kids and want to keep them busy on road trips!
