Humanoid Domo in the works
Published on 04/11/2007

The folks at MIT are currently developing assistive robots that can learn to adapt to people. Known as the humanoid Domo, this robot's ultimate goal would be helping out with general household chores, but that technology is still far away in the distant future. The Domo is assisted by a dozen computers that analyze the visual input it receives in order to come up with an appropriate reaction. It can currently recognize humans as well as respond to simple voice commands. In order to stick to the three laws of robotics, the Domo is smart enough to sense when a human is touching it in order not to harm people while going about its chores.
