Debiotech from Switzerland have successfully developed this uber small insulin pump that relies on the microfluidic micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) technology that enables diabetics to mount the device on a disposable skin patch for a non-stop stream of insulin infusion throughout the whole day. The lack of needles and a continuous delivery of insulin makes this a much better method of treatment for diabetics as it fools your body into thinking it is receiving the pancreas’ natural secretion. Hopefully this solution will be released commercially soon at an affordable price.
