HD coming to a car near you
Posted on May 28, 07 06:13 PM PDT

Toshiba Matsushita Display of Japan are currently working on a High Definition movie player for the car, and a prototype is already available. HD pundits would be quick to point out that Matsushita/Panasonic support Blu-ray, but Toshiba calls the shots in this scenario, and hence ended up with an HD DVD player. A touchscreen display will also be released along with the HD DVD player - does this mean the remote will be thrown out of the equation? Unless you can fit in a nice full HD 40" LCD or plasma TV into your car, HD movies certainly sound overkill and a waste of money. I suspect Hummer owners will be one of the first few who line up to get one of these.
