More info on Amiga hardware

Amiga fans will be pleased to know that the new systems will come with a recommended retail price of approximately $490. Built around the Freescale MPC8349E processors with speeds between 400MHz and 667MHz, these new Amiga PCs come with a Flex-ATX form factor motherboard that can hold a maximum of 1GB of RAM, three PCI slots, a couple of Gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0 ports, two serial ports, a quartet of SATA ports, and an integrated sound chip. A higher end Power PC-based design is also in the pipeline for those who require more computing power. Although I was a happy Amiga owner back in the 90s, I’m now asking myself: what’s the point of this new line of computers?
I went to their website and saw this: “Amiga, Inc. is the world’s premier provider of multimedia enabling technologies. For almost two decades its award-winning software has been a mainstay for motion picture studios, multimedia creators, and digital entertainment enthusiasts around the world”. I guess that they meant “Two decades ago…”.
