Portable emulation console in the works
Posted on May 28, 07 06:11 PM PDT

Ben Heck is the brain behind many a unique console modification, and his fame has snagged him a partnership with Gameport to design a new portable emulation console for mass production. The pocket-friendly Gameport is currently still in its prototype stages, emulating different classic 8-bit systems as well as the Atari 2600 and Colecovision. Transfer of ROMs are as easy as hooking up the Gameport to a computer via USB. Is retro gaming the rage? After all, plenty of people are playing emulated ROMs of yore on their PSP instead of enjoying PS2-like graphics on the handheld. The Gameport prototype currently measures 3.5? x 5? x 1? and will most probably be more refined in the final release. Pricing and availability details are currently unknown.
