I can't believe we are being asked to provide retro-active marketing advice to Microsoft. For all of the IQ they have on-board, can anyone think of a useful innovation from Microsft Research that's actually made it to being part of a saleable product?

pro-Useful for docs who tends to mistake their stylus as a termometer (don't ask)
con-Some ppl often prespirate tru their hands and unless the screen is big enough, bigfoot fingers are a drag

I, on the other hand, can't believe why a lot of the user interfaces on touch screen phones are stylus-based. I had a Treo 650, a great phone, but a lot of the apps require that I use my stylus because of small buttons on their user interface. When I'm walking or in a hurry, I'd like to be able to hold my phone and quickly tap the UI without having to take the stylus out. Also, I can't remember how many times I've lost a stylus.
One more application that it's great for are GPS units. Can u imagine having to take a stylus out and tap the screen when you're in a hurry and having to put it away again?
