Clairvoyante makes LCDs more efficient
Posted on Jun 6, 07 09:50 PM PDT

Clairvoyante is on a quest to make LCDs more efficient, and their solution consists of its PenTile RGBW display. Apparently, Clairvoyante claims that this new display will prolong battery life on laptops and cellphones by up to 50%. The PenTile RGBW display features red, green, blue, and white subpixels used in each pixel, giving you a brighter picture without the need for more backlight. Each pixel has also been enlarged by 33%, allowing more light to shine through. While the total resolution will be lower, Clairvoyante claims the human eye can't tell the difference. Hopefully the company's word will be true - just keep an eye out for PenTile displays to hit the market early next year.
