Dell Latitude D420 sports SSD

Dell Latitude D420 sports SSD
Dell will be throwing in a 32GB solid state drive (SSD) into the new Latitude D420 laptop in favor of the traditional hard drive. While 32GB is very small in comparison to today's laptop hard drives, the fact that it makes no noise and has no moving parts while consuming less power and retain data integrity better makes it by far the smarter choice. The old vanguard can still opt for a hard drive if they want to though. The 1.8" SSD comes from SanDisk and provide a theoretical 23% increase in system performance and a 34% improvement in boot time. This flash based hard drive won't be cheap though, retailing for $549 a pop.

The actuator arm from a standard 2.5" laptop affects people with metal plates in their heads. I have pulsating headaches during defragmentation or anti-virus sweeps. I am glad to see Dell going SSD! Makes my life easier!
