Hammacher is offering the Slide and Negative to Digital Picture Converter device that actually converts old 35mm slides and film negatives into digital images. This makes it a snap to preserve your memories without heading to the local photo store and using its conversion service. Just place the slides and negatives into a tray, press a button and the image will be scanned immediately, thanks to its 5 megapixel CMOS sensor. The Slide and Negative to Digital Picture Converter retails for $99.95 a pop. One bad thing about digital archives is the constant need to backup across different places, upgrading the backup format as technology progresses.
