Hi-Tech Wealth unveils S116
Solar-powered cellphones are definitely a boon to the industry, and Hi-Tech Wealth from China has recently launched the first commercialized solar-powered handset in the world - the S116. Features of this unique cellphone include a microSD memory card slot and a 1.3 megapixel camera, with more than 20 patents being filed in China in order to protect the intellectual properties - something rather ironic considering just how many counterfeit hardware are being produced in China. Apparently, exposure to direct sunlight for an hour will give the S116 up to 40 minutes of talk time, but you don't have to roast your handset all day long as even "weak light" such as indoor lighting and even candle light are able to charge the battery. Pre-orders for the S116 stand at a massive 50,000 units, where each unit retails for $510. Will you be getting one of these when it comes Stateside, if ever?

It's a dream I've had for ages and now it's a reality. I also believe we can power our automobiles with the wonders of Hydrogen. I just hope someone is seriously working on this issue. And as the unorganized hopeless optimist that same someone will be able to topple the oil cartels and present us with a product within my lifetime. I was born in 1952.

This technology was inevitable and I’m sure it has lots of room to grow. The patent part of this story is important. More new technology out of China will prompt them to police their counterfeiting.

Sounds good, but doesn't work well. Needs to wait for N-tech. Theory OK, practically not ready yet.

That's awesome! I won't have to worry about changing my phone again... How can you get one here in the united states? Is it Tri-Band? Price is not the issue, if we can save energy!!! Please let me know!
