Sharp gives W-ZERO 3 an upgrade
Posted on Jun 7, 07 07:29 PM PDT

Sharp's WillCOM W-ZERO 3 smartphone will receive an upgrade, and will henceforth be known as the W-ZERO 3 Advance. Sounds more like a video game console if you ask me. Anyway, the upgrade includes a slimmer body (17.9mm) complete with a new 3" 480 x 800 LCD display. It shares roughly the same form factor as that of the HTC Vox, and runs on Windows Mobile Classic. Features include a numeric keypad, a sliding QWERTY keyboad, and a mini USB port where you can hook up an external Bluetooth or GPS module. No idea on how much this costs nor whether it will make it Stateside. Looks like a simple and elegant business handset than anything else.

Any news as to if it will be available as 'unlocked'in North America & at what price?

the original has bluetooth, and extreme data speeds, but indeed it lacks GPS. The usual college frat types will of course stick with their trendy handsets, but geekier persons like me would rather have a smartphone.. being in europe i have absolutely no problem with that (symbian and all), but symbian smartphones have just been launched in the States.. and windows definitely and totally blows when compared with symbian.

Andi, if it was feature packed, it would definitely have come with GPS and Bluetooth inside, no questions asked. When I mentioned that this was a "simple and elegant" business handset, I meant it achieved a zen-state design for those wearing suits. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the W-ZERO 3 Advance probably won't appeal to college types, does it? They have their KRZRs and iPhones instead :)

So much ignorance :)
This is one of the most powerful WinMo handsets and definitely the most feature-packing. Sadly it's exclusive to WillCom...
any smartphone user craves for one of these...
