Sony unveils SR5C, SR8 HD camcorders
While Sony already has some High Definition camcorders for sale, there is always room for improvement and this is exactly what Sony did by unveiling the HDR-SR8 and the SR5C models. The former comes with a 3.2 megapixel video sensor and a 10x optical zoom alongside optical image stabilization while the latter features upgraded storage (100GB from 40GB) and embraces the AVCHD (H.264) format, letting you store up to 3 days' worth of 1080i HD video on the go. Both the HDR-SR8 and SR5C will be released this July 9th at $1,600 and $1,300 respectively. Have you jumped onto the HD bandwagon yet when recording your favorite memories? What is your rationale behind that decision?

I am in the market for a new camcorder too. But I've read from different places that there aren't many software you can use to edit the HD video yet. Also, playing them could be an issue.

I am in the market for a new camcorder since the canon I bought in 1999 finally died. I have considered an HD camera since the prices are falling but not sure if I need one really since I would only be able to see the HD version on my Laptop. Hmm...what to do?
