Cowon iAudio 7 uses flash memory

Cowon's iAudio 7 is the natural successor to the iAudio 6, and comes with hardware improvements that are more important than just a facelift, placing more emphasis on function over form. The 0.85" 4GB hard drive has been discarded in favor of 8GB of NAND flash memory. Strange enough, the use of flash memory did not result in a slimmed down iAudio 7, but you do get triple the battery life of its predecessor at 60 hours. Not only does the iAudio support the most popular audio and video codecs, it also does FLAC and OGG support. For those who travel constantly across short distances, flash memory is the way to go, but if you're constantly crossing continents, a hard drive based solution is always more welcome.

Why would a hard drive based solution be more welcome traveling across the pond? I think if you can live with 8GB in a DAP then Flash Memory is the only way to go. As time goes by flash will be more and more available, accepted, and size will increase.
