Gesture-based remote control

Gesture-based remote control

Scientists from Australia have managed to develop a remote that tracks your hand gestures and translating them into commands. This device comes with a camera to see what your hand is doing, convert the signal and send it to the appropriate device via a universal remote control. In fact, it is able to work just fine under all lighting situations, giving us none of the problems that accompanied the EyeToy. For example, a clenched fist means "start" while an outstretched hand with closed fingers signifies "power on". A consumer-ready device will probably be released in three years' time, although the relevance of such a product by then (let alone now) is rather questionable.
