Electrical engineering researchers at the University of Arkansas have successfully developed biosensors that are capable of measuring important physiological signs. These smart fabrics, so to speak, will definitely come in handy when monitoring a patient's respiration rate and body temperature in real time in order to provide up-to-date information to health care professionals while offering a greater degree of freedom for patients. Such sensors and wireless networks can now be fitted on garments such as undershirts, and provides immediate detection of physiological abnormalities that could be essential in preventing illness before problems snowball into an acute stage.
