Tomy to release i-Sobot
Published on 07/22/2007

Tomy of Japan has announced that its latest toy, the i-Sobot robot will retail for approximately $250 when it hits retail stores in Japan this October 25th, whereas an English-speaking variant will arrive Stateside shortly afterwards. The Japanese version will be white in color, while the US version is the polar opposite. The i-Sobot is the smallest humanoid robot in the world (currently at least), standing a mere 16.5cm tall and weighing 350 grams. It boasts 17 micro actuators and a gyro-sensor that helps it keep its balance when walking and dancing. The i-Sobot is capable of performing up to 200 physical movements, ranging from somersaults to complex acrobatics. Not only that, he is obedient and responds to verbal commands while spewing up to 180 words on its own. Would you prefer a Wii or a robot as both share the same price point?
