Toshiba works on WiFi Gigabeat
If the latest FCC filing is anything to go by, it shows that Toshiba is currently working on a new Gigabeat player enhanced with WiFi connectivity. Going by the model number MET401, it will come with its own wireless transmitter for local networking features at the very least. In addition, Toshiba will do away with the Personal Media Center OS, replacing it with an updated version of Windows Embedded instead. There is no confirmation of video playback capability, although it is highly a possibility on something as large as the MET401. An official information press release will probably happen sometime later this year at best, or 2008 at worst. Another squirting PMP on the horizon, but will it even begin to cause a chink in the iPod's armor?
