Brain pacemaker awakes man

A man who suffered from severe brain injuries for nearly half a dozen years is now capable of chewing his own food, watching a movie, and talking with his family courtesy of a brain pacemaker. The brain pacemaker treats the patient with deep-brain stimulation courtesy of two electrodes attached to the pacemaker that sends impulses into a section of the brain that regulates consciousness. Hopefully further advances in this field will be able to see patients in a similar quagmire experience healing that was never thought possible before. After all, as long as there is breath in someone, there ought to be that glimmer of hope that one day he/she will be able to regain consciousness, and this brain pacemaker certainly sheds new light on such situations.
