Double sided touchscreen in the works

Published on08/26/07

Researchers from Microsoft and Mitsubishi are currently working on a pseudo-transparent touchscreen system that enables users to type text, click on hyperlinks, and even navigate maps from both sides of a portable device. This is made possible by superimposing a semi-transparent image of the fingers touching the back of the device, enabling users to see just what they're touching at the moment. Hopefully the screen won't be too fragile for rough users like me who have a penchant to break things.
