Hi, I just bought this phone (CECT P168)for my husband, and he apparently is having some of the same issues as are being talked about. Anyway, I did some research on the internet, and you can get all your answers by going to www.yzcompany.com/ebay/p168-FAQ.htm It has different links you can click on depending on which phone service you are using. (ex.AT&T, T-mobile, etc..)

i bot this modle on ebay two days ago and i have still not got it and with all these problems i seeing i was just wondering was this phone the right chose or was it a bad one i visited like 10 other sites and some of them called it a iclon. and i am so scard that i just wasted 169 dollors on a freaken crappy phone ?? so can some one please just tell me are you satifid with your phone or is it a hunk of junk and has a lot of problems and i am only 15 so i woln't do anything on the internet or anything like that so can you please fill me in!!!

to put music on you cect iphone you have to copy them to the my music folder otherwise the phone will not read them

I just got my phone today so I am sure I will have many questions to come but my first is that I connected it to the usb on my computer and my computer does not recognize it. I went to my computer, device manager, nothing. Tried all 8 of my usbs! It seems to be charging though...it shuts off then lights up black saying "bluetooth" then does the same thing over and over every 20 seconds or so. Does this mean it is charging??

Jp, I got email to work now...apparently I cannot pop Gmail on this phone it might be due to the fact that i need SSL which i didn't see the option for on the phone.

Follow everything to the letter.
To setup for ATT is as follows

I have tried these and have yet to get it to work evidently I am missing something but I will keep at it until i can get it to work. Plus shake and tilt does not work yet on the A88. At least I have not gotten it to work. I got my pictures to slide by touching the screen.

Well first: AT&T GPRS direction is clearly included in one of the post bellow, so people please refer to that post and stop asking about it, one tweak I may add try port 8080 in the proxy setting if port 80 is not working.
Second: new area is there any update for the BOIS software (OS) for this phone to enhance the phone for the browser, the look and feel? If any one has any idea please share it.

you have to contact the phone company you have service with & they'll program it with you over the phone. It took us about 2 hours to do this but it is working amazingly now I have absulutly no complaints

I received my new CECT P168+ last week and it worked great until two days ago when I got a low battery warning. I switched the battery to one I had just charged and now when I press the on/off button, I get the Bluetooth screen and then the screen goes black and all of the buttons remain lit until I disconnect the battery.
I was given a suggestion of charging the batteries for 12 hours straight. I did this and still the problem remains. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

i just got the cect p168 yesterday and i had the same problem and i resolved so if you want it fixed so you can do picture messageing and to be able access t-zones then dial 611 and get the alternate number and call them on a seperate phone ad tell the customer support that you just got the cect p16 and that you need the setup for WAP and picture messaging and they will talk you through what needs to be done takes about 30 minutes.

Can you use the Suncom internet (hiptop feature) when using the P168? I just purchasing one and the phone works with my simcard so i bought the internet package and i couldnt get it to work. If you press "send Receive" and then press "abort" it will take you to the email's inbox, send etc. Press on in box and you can then access your emails. The problem is that you will only be able to see the header. I have the same problem and I do not know what to do from there.

- display characteristic
- slide to unlock
switch that setting to on. after a while it locks your phone and requires you to have to slide a bhutton on the touch screen across to unlock it.

Bought two CECT A88 Hiphone I32 phones for a friend and we can't get them to work they show service . He is on the GSM network and the area supports 1900 MHZ according to AT&T but it will not connect when tring to call , any help . Post or Email ( R34SklnNsn@aol.com )

Sorry, didnt explain my problem very well earlier ! I have always had internet / web access on my mobile (through vodafone), but when I called them to ask for the configuration settings, they ask me what type / model phone I was using. I could'nt say HiPhone, otherwise the phone line would of probably gone dead ! (I take it that configuration settings are different for each type phone ? Or are they ? )Sorry for my lack of knowledge !

If anyone is having issues with getting online and with the MMS go to www.nokia.co.uk and download the settings for the Nokia 2610 to the Cect through your number. It comes as a package so after 2 clicks you have no issues in connecting, its all done for you. Its also free.

First you need to convert your songs that are wav. to mp3. You do this by downloading a wav. to mp3 converter from the internet (its free). After you do this then you put the songs back on your phone. Go to the audio player, then go to list, then select the folder my music. Then you click add (you may have to add each song one by one, but it works)

I also have suncom sim in my p168+. My sim card works in the p168+, make sure you have it inserted in the sim 1 slot, maybe that will help you get the phone to work with your suncom sim card......If you do get it to work and can figure out how to set up internet access please email me at the address listed as my name and let me know how to set up my internet on the p168+ please. How to do it !!!
This is the one that worked for me - I have the $5.99 TMobile Web plan:
Create Data Account
1. Select Menu
2. Select Entertainment
3. Select Services
4. Select Data Account
5. Select GPRS
6. Choose an empty profile
7. Account Name enter T-Mobile WAP
8. Press Options
9. Press Done
10. APN enter wap.voicestream.com
11. Press Options
12. Press Done
13. User Name >Leave BlankLeave BlankLeave BlankLeave Blank<
18. Press Done
19. When prompted to SAVE please select Yes
20. Select Activate Profile
21. When prompted to Activate Profile please choose Yes
22. Press Done

Who's your provider? T-mobile walks you right through every step to configure for internet access, MMS, etc..You need them to transfer you to the unsupported phone dept.

I wanted to let you guys know, if your phone shows EMERGENCY only on it, that means that you are in the 850 band range of your cellular provider. This means that you will either not have a phone to use or you will have lots of dropped calls. This is due to your phone only working on the 900/1800/1900 bands. The 850 band is more prevalent in rural areas, so unless you live in a large town or city, I would definitely stay away from this phone. Your best bet would be to CALL your cellular provider and ask them what band their towers broadcast in your area, then you will know for sure.

Most folks not geting a signal have a 900/1800/1900 phone, though it was claimed as quad band. Anyone with this phone is OK if you have t-mobile (and don't roam into a 850 area), or ATT urban, but half the US has the 850 band. If yours' said 850 optional, you do not have the 850 band.The 900 band is not supported in the US.

Okey now it is working adding to what computertech.1990 says to setup AT&T internet when you choose HTTP it will ask you for proxy setting here what you need to type: 066.209.011.032 and port 80.

if u call tmobile and tell them the problem they should be able to walk u through it manually but u need to speak to a tier 3 tech rep which is called the data account department there gonna be the only ones to help u. there is also a couple forums on the net that show u how to get internet but not mms

lol you people just didnt buy the right one i got mine from a hong kong based company here in the US its US made and more durabile and not a cheaply made unit granit i paid 200 for it but its worth it all those having problems with your internet ans texting its as others have said depending on your carrier you have to get the ip address and the texting service center number for your carrier

It is now obvious to me that this phone sucks. Don't waste your money on it. It will end up not working. Trust me, I've spoken to over 100 people who have bought this phone. Everyone has a completely different problem with the phone.

I had to go on YouTube and search a bunch of vids to find out how to open mine! You just push down on the "center panel" and push toward the bottom of the phone. It doesn't look like the whole bottom half slides off, but it does.

I just bought the phone a few days ago. I can’t seem to figure out how to make the incoming calls show the name of the person and not just the number.
Also I can’t seem to get the phone to have different rings for different people. It always seems to revert back to one of the ring tones that came with the phone. I downloaded some ring tones and they play alright but seem to revert back to one of the original ones.
Can you tell me how I can delete the original ones and add more of my own??
I also can’t seem to get my email to work.
I sure hope you can help with some of these questions.

you need to go on t-mobile and ind their ip address and you type it into the profiles that you can set up for your internet...and thats how it works

i have the cectp168 its not the iphone but its pretty good once you learn it. t-mobile set alot of it for me. just call them they will help you. or else for to ebay they could find the manual for you.

Hi. I just recently bought the CECT P168+ device. I added music and videos. But Now I can't seem to actually get it to connect to me computer anymore. I Connect it to my computer and its tell me I need to install device driver. Which I have no idea why. I thought this phone was plug and play. Does any one here have the drivers for the P168, or at least let me know what I can do so solve my problem? Thank in advance.

hi i have the cect p168 .you have to forward the mp3 to your audio on the phone .go to setting an your memorry card an open it scoll an find where you put the mp3 .an once you find it click or open it .you will have to open the song an forward it to your audio one by one that work for me or just play it from there it will do it

I just received 2 p168+ and they said they support 900/1800/1900 mhz and 850mhz optional support. I put my go phone card in for at+t and it works fine. Suncom will not work. I am in South Carolina. Does anyone know how to switch this around?

Ok, let me answer alot of questions, then I have a few.
The phone had a unique OS, not really made by a large company(Windows or Mac or Linux)
The best format for any file to be in is as follows:
Sound(mp3's): 64kbps to 128kbps
pictures(jpg, gif) 320x240, try to keep to 80 kb and less
video: mp4 and 3gp smallest frame rate possible.
When you connect your device to the computer, make sure that you do not use many usb devices at once, webcam, mic, mouse, keyboard, then your phone. Try to keep it simple until your computer can be used to the phone. You may have bad USB drivers or they may not be up to date. USB 2.0 or 1.1 is ok. Your phone will ask you which type or connection you would like to have, you have the option of either mass storage(so that you can put stuff onto your memory card), or webcam (which you can use to mainly take pictures with, video is a little harder). I have had this phone for now four days, but have successfully modded alot of it. Also if you have tmobile, I can offer you free information on how to setup your mms, plus make sure that your phone can get on the internet via tmobile servlets.

for all of you thats having problems with the ph one like goin on the net and receiving sms or mms messages. you need to configure data account and connection type to do so say you have tmobile sim. put your sim card on your old phone not the cect p168 . and on the tmobile phone look for proxy and home page and port write it down and look for those settings on the cect p168 . on the cect you can choose between wap and http try http if that doesnt work try wap.

hi, i jut got this fone last night (p168) and i cannot get my mp3's to play, i can get them to go onto the card, but it wont play the songs at all, theres no play option. and the songs wont show up on the cards list in the audio player either, im stuck and wouldnt have a clue. i just wanna play my mp3's.
