MotionPortrait Turns Photos into Computer Graphics
Posted on Sep 17, 07 11:56 AM PDT

Motion Portrait claims to have succeeded where many have failed in the past: extract 3D information from a photo and instantly turn it into an animatable computer graphics (CG) element.
Once digitized, the model can be manipulated in many ways, including get a new haircut, eye color… It can also be animated. Ok, the animation isn’t very realistic and the system probably has some severe limitation (the camera angle can’t vary too much from the original photo, the lighting seems static), but still, this is the most impressive demo of this genre that I’ve seen in a while.
