Sharp BD-HP20U Blu-ray player

Sharp has just announced the BD-HP20U Blu-ray player that is one speedy loader. The press release claims that this player will be able to load up any Blu-ray disc within 10 seconds. That's very fast no matter how you look at it - other high definition players take anything from quadruple that amount of time to over a minute. Features include 1080p output at 24fps, onboard decoding for Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD, and HDMI output. The Sharp BD-HP20U will be available this September for $550, making this a pretty attractive price point. Other people might want to consider picking up the PS3 instead if they want to add a spot of gaming to their living room.
