Amazon MP3 blocks customers
Posted on Oct 28, 07 09:24 PM PDT

...those who aren't from the US anyways. Amazon.com has started to implement geographical targeting to filter out those who aren't residing in the US, leaving many folks who reside out of the US while using a US-based billing address out in the cold where purchasing DRM-free, mainstream music MP3s are concerned. Will this move serve to fuel piracy? Only time can tell, but I guess one thing's for sure - this "free ride" is over and one has got to look for alternative sources (non-US residing folk anyway).

This is really stupid. Here i am going out of my way to give them money for something I could as easily download for free and they're refusing to sell to me because I'm not a US resident.
How different is this from going into a store in the US and buying a CD?
I can understand it if the store was not a US store, but it is. It's just that the customer is not a US resident!
