China runs sweatshop Internet censorship

Published on10/12/07

It has been said time and again that the Internet cannot be censored, but the Chinese government ain't gonna throw in the towel just yet. Apparently they have even gone so far as to employ tens of thousands of censors and police who will take up the responsibility of maintaining control over the flow of information. This will help clamp down on dissent while quashing articles that the communist government deem will not do any good for the population. Of course, there are various ways to bypass such rigid censorhip including using a proxy server and taking advantage of the latest Internet technologies such as blogs, discussion forums, Internet telephony, peer to peer, and VPNs. I must say, it's a bummer to have someone censor the Internet!
