Chumby a long time in coming
Oct 17, 07 07:43 PM PDT

We covered the Chumby last year, and it certainly took its own sweet time to be released. Designed to help you keep up with your Internet lifestyle, it allows you to keep track of your Facebook account, email, blog updates, news feeds, RSS, Twitters, and other sites with the convenience of having it by your bedside without turning on the computer. Features include a 3.5" LCD display (kinda tiny for serious surfing purposes), WiFi connectivity, a couple of USB sockets for you to upload programs into its 128MB RAM, speakers, and a headphone socket so you don't wake your other half up while watching some zany videos over YouTube. The first batch is currently shipping now, and they retail for $200 a pop - $50 more than what was quoted last year. I guess it was a cool idea one year back, but right now many devices can already surf the Internet wirelessly, so I don't see any practical use for this thing. ( Add a comment)
