Everex gPC hits Wal-Mart

Everex has unleashed the gPC (better known as Google PC) that will retail for $200 while running on the Ubuntu Linux kernel with Google applications in addition to open source software. This new computer aims to bring Linux to the masses, being powered by a 1.5GHz Via C7-D processor aided by Via's UniChrome Pro IGP graphics core, 512MB RAM, an 80GB hard drive, a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive and integrated Ethernet connectivity. The software bundle would pretty much suit any ordinary user as it boasts OpenOffice, GIMP photo software, Xing DVD and video player, and Rhythmbox music management software.
