Free WiFi at Golden Arches in UK
Those eating in at 1,200 McDonald's restaurants across the UK will soon be able to enjoy free Wifi connectivity, making the company the largest provider of free wireless Internet access in the country. This will definitely bring McDonald's brand reputation by up a notch to the higher end market that is currently occupied by Starbucks and the ilk. The management at McDonald's hope that this free WiFi service will soon draw even more businesspeople to their premises, although I'm not sure whether those in power business suits would find the environment that has kids running around, screaming their lungs off suitable to conduct business meetings. Where's your favorite place for free WiFi? ( Add a comment)

It's about time. There's little more infuriating than spending £7 ($14!) for a Filet-o-Fish meal and then having to pay another £5 to BT just to spend a few minutes catching up on my email. Wait, there was the so-called "free demonstration" of WiFi at London Bridge Station that required you to set up a BT account before you could use it!

I'd rather spend the $15 on Starbuck's coffee and a muffin and take as long as I like on the Internet. Better yet, I can now go to the little sandwich shop next door to McD's and poach their WiFi! But I'll remember where it came from when I want a burger and fries.

Hmm, interesting. I usually frequent smaller, locally-owned establishments and, at least for my food, I'll certainly keep doing so but as far as coffee goes, it's an interesting idea. I typically avoid Starbucks because I've come to really dislike the idea of paying $15 for a cup of coffee and a muffin.
