Fujitsu Flepia e-reader prototype
Oct 11, 07 07:44 PM PDT
Fujitsu launched its Flepia e-reader prototype that comes in a couple of flavors - 8" and 12" displays. Both of them will feature touchscreen capability for easy navigation, while the displays feature 4,096 colors in XGA resolution (768 x 1,024). Too bad the color count is so low as I would have preferred at least 65k in this day and age. Ah well, I guess battery life has something to do with it in the end, since the optional 8-color spec is capable of giving you up to 50 hours' worth of runtime. You can store content on an SD memory card, and to give you an idea on what an electronic tome this would make, a 4GB SD card can hold up to 5,000 average length novels. Now that's a whole lot of books to read. I wonder if jails around the country could furnish prisoners with one of these so they can better spend their time reading instead. No word on this 12mm thin e-reader though, but it can't quite come out fast enough.
