Posted on Oct 30, 07 09:38 AM PDT

If you've been hankering after a high end GPS navigation system all this while, the Harman Kardon GPS-810 would be a prime candidate for your consideration. It shares all features found on both the GPS-310 and GPS-510, in addition to an intuitive, wireless rotary controller for in-vehicle operation, providing a convenient and comfortable access while you're on the road. Not only that, the GPS-810 boasts Bluetooth connectivity that makes handling navigation and hands-free calls a cinch. An integrated wireless FM transmitter enables the user to play music or sound via any car audio system, while the picture viewer allows you to peruse through your thumbnail previews or keep the backseat passengers occupied with a slide show. The high-end Harman Kardon GPS-810 will empty your bank accounts by $599.99 with each purchase.

Love it so much, but, the bluetooth connection functioned only a short while and then quit. I've tried reconnecting with my LG cell. The Phone says we're connected...the Harmon Kardon says we're not. As a bluetooth or some form of a hands free system is required by law come July...I regret I must return this beautiful thing.

Bought an 810 and loved the ease of use and the map.
Had several problems, might be unique to mine.
1. I couldn't connect with my Motorola Q phone, no matter what I tried, but somehow it just happened, don't know how. However there was just a jumble of leters and no names.
2. The battery went down quickly after the first charge. I plugged the charger in and it did not indicate a charge, then couldn't start it without reseting with a paper clip. Eventually everything seemed to work normally, until the battery was exhausted again. Now it will not charge or start without a reset.
I was forced to return the unit. I figure it will be a very nice device in 6 months when the bugs are ironed out.

Just bought mine. Paid $300 out the door. It's way nicer than any Garmin and TomTom I've seen. It also has many extra features, such as, movies, music, bluetooth... The bluetooth works well on mine. However, when it imported my address book some of the names were changed to numbers. Not sure how to fix that. Overall, for my first day of ownership, it looks and feels like a top quality unit. I'll check back with you in a couple of months;-)

you have options to disable the screensaver.go under settings/demo/and press first on the right option and after it will ask you for an on/off confirmation.make the same with the left movie

i had a high end nuvi from garmin and i returned it after i got to play around with the HK. compared to my $699 garmin this thing is faster and way easier to use. also i like how this one doesnt shrink the screen into a tiny box like all the other ones. i just loaded a video on it to watch on the plane looks sweet

I just purchased the Harmon Kardon 810NA. Overall it seems like a pretty good system. However, there are some issues. First, the mounting pod on mine was bad and sound would not come through when cradled. Second, the signal for FM transmission is too week to connect with my RX330 receiver. Third, the bluetooth connects to my phone and inports my address book. However, after placing a voice-dialed call, the system will not transmit the conversation. Lastly, for now anyway, while driving the system goes into a standby mode similar to a computer starting a screen saver after approximately 3 minutes. I can live without the other features, but the system going to a screen saver of the demo time-after-time is very annoying. I've gone through all the settings and cannot find a way to turn this feature off.

this thing is the biggest piece of crap ever released onto the market....The controller is almost useless, the route calculation is slow, its a nice looking unit with a nice screen. But not worth the high price tag, especially with that almost useless scroll pad.

Bought mine although HK could not tell me which phones were compatible. Looks now like it is NOT backwards compatible with Bluetooth 1.2, but it is taking days to find out for sure from HK. Weak manual as well. Love those liberal return policies . . .

Could you give a less informative review?

just picked one of these up and I have to say it is much better than using the hertz neverlost system in my rental cars. It has ore points of interest and is eas to use. Blue tooth with my phone is awsome at both ends ofthe phone, very clear.
