Sony PS3 consumes less power

Sony has moved on to the 65nm manufacturing process and the fruits of its labor is evident in the new 40GB PS3 that will be launched in the US on November 2nd. This 65nm Cell processor will drop power consumption from 200W to a more environmentally friendly 135W, while boasting a new motherboard revision along with an updated Southbridge. The reduction in power consumption has also resulted in a smaller heatpipe since the demands on it have gone down as well. Would you rather have backwards compatibility with PS2 games, a memory card reader and another two USB 2.0 ports compared to a more energy efficient processor? ( Add a comment)
